Finding the Source of Creativity

Finding the Source of Creativity

Question: How does one become more creative, both in cinematography or in any art form?

Like I said, you have to trust the process. If you want to be more creative, you can’t be in a rush. You cannot push an apple to be ripe. It takes its own natural time. There is an art in knowing when to push, and when to stop. That is related to your intuition, respecting what you feel. It is about refraining from letting others tell you what to do. That is when your true creativity comes out.

For example, I meditate every single day. Meditation is the way to work on yourself. In meditation, you are not forcing anything. You just sit. It is about connecting with yourself. You go into the quietness, and connect there. It takes time, and patience.

The same connection that you feel when you are meditating, is what you need for creativity.

When you create something, you are not thinking. If thoughts appear, they just come and go. You do not cling to anything - it is a deep connection. So in a way, in cinematography, you need that same connection that meditation gives you. But, it is with your eyes open. In both creativity and meditation, you connect to the one source that keeps you there.

Life is about being present, right here, right now.
